I posted in another thread https://blazerforum.com/forum/engine...67/#post587239 about gear changing issues.

This sympton happened around the time of this issue. Before i crank the suv i can press the gas pedal all day long with no problem like normal. When i crank my blazer though it sticks, for lack of a better word, until i mash it or push down harder. Then it's fine apart from the whole not changing gear thing in previous post.

If i take the air intake off of the throttle body so i can look down into it and try to rotate the thing that holds the gas pedal wire, technical speak i know ;p, the flap makes a sort of pop sound before it moves, like it's in a bind.

Previous post suggests the TPS might be the culprit for gear changing issues. Could it be that or could it be the Throttle body or flap has been distorted or just needs a good cleaning? Or could gear changing issue just be a dirty tranny filter, though that wouldn't have anything to do with the gas pedal sticking after startup. And neither would the TPS afaik.

Or...lot's of ors in this post i see...are they not connected at all?

 

Well clean the throttle body for starters. Its not hard, sometimes the flap springs get stuck and need to be cleaned and lubed. I bet that fixes it

That's what i was going to try first. Bought some Throttle body cleaner and Mass Air Flow sensor cleaner.

I redone my LIM gasket https://blazerforum.com/forum/engine...o-oomph-79390/

and there was gunk in my air filter aswell, it was sodden wet, so it travelled all through my air intake. So gonna try cleaning throttle body and Mass Airflow Sensor/meter. Raining like a bitch today though...ofc. So will have to do it tomorrow night after work or Saturday

 

The area around, and behind, the throttle plate is coked. Perfectly normal and nothing can be done to prevent it from happening. Best to remove the throttle body from the plenum. Then remove the throttle position sensor and IAC motor from the throttle body. Then thoroughly clean the throttle body, throttle plate, and all of the passages. Reinstall, done. Don't adjust the throttle stop screw. It is set at the factory and requires a high $ scan tool to readjust it.

 

Cleaned the throttle body out with throttle body cleaner, which stopped the sticky issue But didn't fix the gear changing issue Cleaned the MAS, didn't fix gear issue...though wasn't expecting that too.

Changed the TPS. All golden again

Upshot, spent $38 on a TPS and $15 on Throttle body and MAS cleaner. They both needed it so money well spent

Case closed
