Green residue on Air conditioner pump
97' Blazer 4.3 Ltr. 142k miles. Had the freon filled last year. Didn't seem to last very long maybe a years worth.I noticed there is a green, oily, residue on the pump. Would that be................. a leak in the pump? Thanks, just want to get other opinions.
You should take it to an A/C repair shop or any place that services A/C systems and have them recover the system, vacuuming it out. When you replace the compressor, make sure that you pick up the required amount of PAG oil to put into the compressor. You may have to pour the oil out of the current compressor and measure it for the proper amount to put in the old compressor. You also might want to put a new filter/dryer on. That will require a specific amount of PAG oil be added as well.
The filter dryer is located on the passenger side of the engine bay and is about 4" in diameter and around 10" long. It is the big silver can right in front of the HVAC housing under the hood.
In regards to post #5, "vacuuming out the system" is that proceedure part of a "flushing of the system"that I haveheard some people refer to or is that a separate thing that needs to be done as well? Thanks again.
