Default Help!!!

1999 blazer lt 258kms on it.. when i floor the truck to pass someone it drops a gear but then feels like its in neutral. I wanted to go the cheap way so i just put spark plugs in, the one behind that steering shaft is a pain in the the ****! i didn't change the wires.. i got the truck out of 4wd and back too 2wd manually, what could this problem possible be?? (p.s. : the y pipe that goes to the cat just started leaking, so could the cat possibly be the issue here?)

any advice would help!! thanks!

it sounds like your transmission clutches are starting to go or its low on fluid. Check your fluid level and the condition of the fluid. If its brown and smells burnt, it may be time for a new transmission. Id doubt its a plug or a cat problem, a plugged cat wouldnt feel like it was in neutral, it would feel like a power loss. A bad plug would most likely spit and spudder and most likely blow a check engine light for a cylinder misfire

My 89' does the exact same thing. it is 100% your tranny. does it suck going uphills too? your going to need to get your tranny rebuilt or get a newer one out of a boneyard. a rebuild is going to run you around 1K and a salvage tranny will be around $700ish. hope this helps.

BTW - you can more easily get to all six plugs by pulling off the front wheels and going straight in under the wheel wells. You'll still need a swivel to get the one by the steering shaft but it's so much easier to see it this way.
