HELP ASAP.. COOLANT TEMP SENSORS
#11
EGR valves can hang open causing drive-ability concerns (performance, mileage, etc) without triggering a CEL.

Kyle,
bought the gasket w/the screen list was 32.00 my cost 16.50 anyway I pulled it out, There was carbon built up but, not as bad as I thought it would have, anyway I cleaned out the ports on the intake, ran it with it off to blow out the crap, then took the EGR put it in my vise, filled it w/cleaner let it soak, there was a rough seat in the plunger until I cleaned it out, plus blew out residue w/my compressor, put it back started it up idles smooth as a top. Now gotta see if I get some better mileage out of it. Thanks Very Much.

Would a 96 have 2 sensors? My te,p/ gauge hasn't worked since I bought the truck - very annoying and dangerous. I've changed the reg temp gauge and done a radiator flush - same. Several mechanics are stumped as well - any suggestions?

If you have a single wire sensor on the driver side cylinder head near the exhaust manifold, then you will have another sensor.

There is no need for another sensor on your truck, rogggg. You have no true PCM. At least not in the sense that TBI, CPI, and SCFI trucks do. I do not believe that the TBI trucks have two sensors either.
