Default High Mileage

Hello All, My 2000 blazer 4x4 has 107,000 Miles on it. I have seen threads where people have over 200k Miles on their blazers. What is the trick to keeping a blazer running well over 200k miles?? I do all the required maintance, oil changes, tranny fluid changes, flushing the radiator, brakes, rotors, spark plug wires, plugs, distro cap and rotor, PCV valve, thermostat, and some other things as well. I still have the original exhaust, no rust at all on the body. I had the car rust proofed when I bought it. Only lasts so long, I think it has worn off in the last year or so. Tires are still very good, 1/2 the tread is still left. I am thinking this blazer will go on forever or well over 200k miles. What are the main things I got to look for as far as maintance on a high mileage blazer?? I know my blazer has lost some of its kick, as far as going from 50mph up to 65mph. Does not have the instant speed like it did before say 80k miles. I know its 11 years old and things wear out. How long do these 4.3L V6 motor last? Thanks and any input is needed.

they last awhile. honestly my blazer has over 275,000 miles and sometimes i change the oil once a year lol. sometimes i forget or just aint got the money. ive seen a couple trucks around here thats got 200,000+ and they swear they have never changed the oil?? go figure? i thought goin that long would just kill it. but then again their trucks burn oil so i guess in a way they keep fresh oil in their all the time lol.

Do exactly what you are doing, any it'll last a long time. I have 2 blazers,a 91 and 92. My 91 burns a quart a week, but has 380,000 miles on it. I havent done a oil change on it since last summer. I just change the filter out every 7k or so. 1 quart a week keeps it clean lol. my 92 is a vortec,it has 138k on it. I change its oil every 3k.

im kinda the same way. ive always changed my trucks oil about every 10,000 miles which is usually once a year. my biggest thing is just keep a eye on things, pop your hood once or twice a week and look for leaks and check all your fluid levels

as a blazer owner over the 200k mark, i can say one thing.
drive it like you want it to last...dont step on it...change fluids and keep an eye on it.
its like any machine...if you dont abuse it it will treat you well in return.

Thanks for all your replies. I kinda baby my blazer, only put 5,000 miles on it a year or less, emissions exempted..YES!! I change oil every 3,000 miles, thats about every 7 or 8 months. I have no oil leaks at all or tranny leaks or any leaks for that matter of fact. Just my rear wiper does not work, my fuel gauge does not work right, and my driver's side window when I power it up to the top, makes and bang when i power it up all the way up. Thats about all that is really broken or whatever with my blazer. I just use trip odometer to keep track of gas, just fill up every 200 miles or so, Just gotta go slow when rolling up the window, and I never use the rear wiper anyways. I get by just fine with those problems. What kinda tires you guys buy for your blazer?? I have Uniroyal brand. About $425 for a set of 4 thats with tax included and all that free tire rotations and all that. Funny thing is, I have never gotten a flat tire on my blazer, knock on wood, I dont even know if I can get the spare off. I have all the tools and jack inside the panel in the back of blazer. Thats about it for now..Add if you like!!
