Default How to clean EGR ports in plenum?

I read an older post on how to clean out clogged ports for the EGR valve. I've already clean out and vaccumed out the ports, but in the older post it was mentioned to start the engine then shut it off with the valve off to blow it out. Is it okay to do that with the plenum off?? Not sure because of the the gas and spark? Is it really needed?

Thanks

You could always pull the fuel pump relay or the coil wire... Either will stop the engine from firing. Do which ever is easier, but I am unsure as to whether enough exhaust pressure can be created by turning the engine over with the starter only.

You could always wait to reinstall the EGR valve until you got the upper plenum reinstalled.
