Default How much to charge good friend to install exhaust?

Could i possibly get opinions on a ballpark $$$ amount to charge a long-time friend to install some type of custom exhaust?

Would there be any difference if it were dual exhaust or not??

Thanks for any comments...

WELL....

FYI: When I offered the good friend $150 just to see what his reply would be, he came back with "Nah, $100 is good, no problem..."

I immediately thought this might be a little on the low side, but I am almost a complete newbie on the subject, soooo.......

Any opinions?? Thanks...

For me the friends and family cost is

1.Actual parts cost
2. A helping hand
3. They bring the beer

That is all! I won't ever charge a good friend/family for my time. Remember someday you are going to need a helping hand

I don't charge my good friends anything. That's what friendship is all about.... helping each other.

You owe me $40 for my response.

I suppose you look at your definition of what a good friend means. I have one friend that I do work for and he insists on paying, but I only tell him to give me what he feels is comfortable and I go lower if he gives more than I think is fair. Others I don't charge at all, then there are the friends who come to me because they don't want to pay shop rates. I charge $10-$20/hr depending on what the job is.

yeah it usually comes back at you eventually. i helped a friend put a trans in his rusty piece of crap 89 truck. shops wanted about 600. i spent a good 8 hours doing it on on my back in the garage with hand tools and didnt charge him anything.

few months later when i bought my house, he gave me all sorts of stuff for the house, supplied all the tools, conduit, light fixures and wire for wiring up my garage.

also its hard to price side job. exhaust can be anywhere from a hour if everything comes apart to days if the parts are wrong and bolts break

I have never charged one of my friends for work. Its easier to just to do it for them than to have them ask me 100 questions and calling me with issues.

I wouldn't dream of charging a really good friend anything.
