hey guys!

I have an 88 2.8 blazer s10 as a daily driver, and lately, its been difficult to keep this thing on the road!

yesterday i was driving it and i was getting on the expressway. I stepped on the gas to get this thing to highway speed, and the engine surged, and the truck wouldnt move!

i let go of the gas and it turns out the truck wont go passed 35-40.

i got scared and jumped off the expressway. my first gear worked, but it wouldn't transition into 2nd with me punching it. once it was in what i thought was second, it would kill that gear and not move out of it!

i dont know what to do. i called my mechanic and he said hopefully my car has a "breather" on the transmission!?!?

would there be anythign else to look for? or is my tranny shot?

thanks guys...im obviously a bit nervous because i dont have the cash right now to resolve it.

anyone?

the latest news:

apparently there is some type of plastic gear in the transmission that tends to break after many miles and/or heat exposure...

can anyone shed light on this?

a clogged fuel filter might give you a similar problem, sure it's the tranny??

it pops into reverse.

it pops into drive, and will stay there, but it feels like its stuck there.

it then moves to the next gear if i punch the gas! whats up with that!
