Default I.D. the Tranny

Hello All,
Bought a '98 Blazer LS, 4.3L Vortec, 4WD, VIN "W", Manual Shift. Needed to replace the throw-out bearing. I have the TSM's. Didn't take long to discover tranny not original to the vehicle. Supposed to have an NV3500 but have what you can see in the photo's instead. PO did a poor job of replacing the tranny (to include leaving two bolts out of the bell housing). I have spent a bunch of time trying to discover what tranny I have. I want to insure I use the proper fluids and I also want to purchase the TSM for this specific box. As you can see from the photo it is labeled a Muncy. After putting all of the numbers into Google, the closest I could come up with is when I did a search for L35. However, that was still vague at best. Can anyone help and tell me EXACTLY what tranny I have? Very much appreciated and thank you for your time in advance.

I'm on my phone so I can't see the pics very well but I'd try calling a GM stealership and see if they can tell you.

would not take long to ask a dealer about it. Just a trip there and back.

that is a nv3500..Well from the looks of this :
PowerTorqueŽ 290L - Manual Transmission | O'Reilly Auto Parts

Pics look to be exact.

"Getrag 290L"

From what i found it looks to be just the 4wd model of the nv3500.

Thanks Chris...I think you nailed it. 1sttimejimmy, it came out of a '98 Blazer LS 4WD. But not original to this specific vehicle (by the TSM it shows a different style of tranny(in the 'Manual Transmission Section' of the TSM)). It's missing transfer case braces and other odds and ends like places for the fuel line brackets, etc.

Yes, the tranny is a 5 speed. I cannot say if it the type put in Chevy trucks or not. While I have had 3 Blazers, I've never owned a full-size Chevy truck.
