Unhappy I only have 2nd now???!?!??!!?

So, 95 chevy blazer, LT 4door. Just got this rig about a week ago, guy swapped it with a 1996 4.3 vortech. When I first got it, didn’t really worry me, high rpms. After 24 hours I come to notice, damn thing wont shift by its self and its automatic… AND there is no 1st gear or 4th/OD. Okay, bunch of little things don't work either, tail lighters, rear window wiper, first guess, fuse box. Yup, half the fuses where missing. Replaced all fuses that needed to be, INCLUDING TRANS fuse was missing. Hoping that would be the extent of my problems. Then as soon as I start it up, Trans fuse blows, replace it again-same thing. Out of curiosity I temporarily put a 30 amp reset fuse into the Trans fuse spot. Shifted not perfect, but had 1st and 4th! So hoping I’ve found where my problem was, I investigate the fuse port closer, and notice it’s lose, fuse will hardly stay in there, could this be why It keeps blowing? I was minutes away from replacing shift solenoids, when I heard that the bad fuse/no fuse, would send the Trans into limp mode and replacing those could be a waste of time if the fuse keeps blowing. But I wouldn’t be surprised if it was wiring either, same guy I got it from put a new radio in, and wires almost started a fire they were so poorly done. I was really hoping I had found the problem area, I’m desperate now, and I’ve lost 3rd gear… Help me please!

a 96 engine is a different beast then the 95. Also the transmissions are different. So a 96 engine will require a 96 pcm and harness, which means you need a 96 trans. the 95 trans wont simply plug into a 96 harness. And a 95 harness wont simply plug into a 96 engine setup. Its mostly the intake and head set-up that makes the engines so different. As far as the trans goes i dont know specifics but i do know 95 isn't compatable with 96+
