Default I'm getting terrible mileage all of the sudden

I'm only getting approximately 13.140292739333939563970082030701 mpg. What should I do? Starting from the easiest thing to the hardest, what are some ways to fix this? I don't know much about engines.

Start with the basics - change plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, fuel filter, air cleaner. See if that helps.

anything you can do to increase airflow or clean up airflow, since you have throttle body injection and no mass air flow sensor, then the more air volume you flow through the tb will result in more hp and better mpg (to a point). try upgrading your air filter to a k&n, flipping your air cleaner lid, disconnecting the tube pulling hot air from the manifolds and directing it into the intake, throttle body spacer. look up cfm technologies, its a marine outfit specializing in throttle body injection. ive installed tb spacer, bowl shroud and injector pod spacer and mpg shot up to 16 or 17 hwy. also check tire sizes and leave your front valence spoiler on. if you really had the money then look at intake manifold and headers. as long as you dont alter your fuel curve your economy should increase.

That might be part of the problem... I mainly do city driving, but when I started repainting, I took off the plastic thing on the hood, if that's what a valence is. Mine was broken- it had a crack in it, and a big piece missing. Would that really make that much difference in town, though?

He's talking about the air dam just beneath the front bumper. Some of your mileage issue probably comes from your driving methods as you stated in this old post of your's...

I go on the highway almost every day, but only for about 2 or 4 miles or so, and not greater than 50 mph. I'm not sure about the gear ratios or anything, I'm just starting out, but Neko has the 4.3L V6 with a 3 speed automatic with overdrive.

You said it yourself- "old post" of mine. I was getting excellent mileage back then, but it slowly started to deteriorate. I was only driving like that because people are nuts here because this city has tons of drugs, and practically everyone is stoned, so I was constantly having to floor it to keep from getting rear ended, then slam on the brakes for the guy who decides to pull out into the highway at 2 miles an hour... You get the picture. I researched hypermiloing techniches. I've been taking it slow, barely pressing the gas, no stupid stuff. Well, occasional stupid stuff, but only occasional. According to physics and laws of gravity, I should be getting 20-25 mpg right now. Instead it got worse. That's the problem, not my driving skill (or lack thereof). I haven't been on the highway as much, either. I was thinking about putting a can of that fuel treatment in there, but I can't really afford it unless I know it'll work. Any reccomendations on that?

run a can of seafoam through the system in the gas tank, and also inject it in the brake booster vacuum line. if your poor then run about a half quart of auto tranny fluid in the gas tank. i do that quite frequently. if your worried about people hitting you then weld some schedule 40 pipes where your bumpers go
