Just Died!!!!
Hello!
Here's the low down. I own a 96 Blazer 2wd 4.3 that just decided to die on the way to work. Engine just shut off. I got it towed home and found a big hole in my air intake manifold the one with the sensor on it. I replaced that and checked voltage on my battery....good to go. I then removed a spark plug to check that against my engine block and I have a good spark. I released my shroder valve for my fuel and it trickled out no spray. I however did notice for the first time that when turning my key to the start posistion and my fuel pump is making a very loud noise. Loud enough that for the first time I noticed it. Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem may be? All help is greatly appreciated.

[sm=welcomesign.gif]to the Forum, Chris. Now to business. Get a fuel pressure gauge (~$30) and connect it to the schrader valve, turn the key to the 'on' position and the pressure should be 55-65psi. If not, it's a bad pump. Turn the key off and watch the pressure, if it drops more than ~3psi or bleeds down over a few minutes, bad pressure regulator.
"hole in your air intake manifold" - do you mean the ducting connecting the air filter to the upper intake manifold or the intake manifold itself?
Let us know what you find out.

Sounds like you probably have a failing fuel pump, or a clogged fuel filter. I would get a fuel pressure tester from a local auto parts store and find out what psi you have in your fuel system. By the sounds of it you don't have much. Also I would double check the fuel pump fuse or realy ( can't remember which), to make sure it isnt something cheap to fix. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help working on getting a fuel pressure gauge right now. The connection between the air filter cover and the manifold connection...so yes I believe it is the ducting. All i know is it has two connectors for mas reading.
Also second question if it is the fuel pump. Do i need to purchase a replacement fuel pump or a Airtex fuel pump. There is a difference of 130.00!! Not really sure which one I need or how to find out. http://www.carjunky.com/partstore/?N...294967013+9211

Actually, Chris, if it turns out to be a bad pump, I would go with the Delphi. That's your real OEM equivalent.

Thanks for all the help! Replaced the fuel pump and it's good to go working hard now. I tell you those things aren't easy to change with a full tank.
thanks again
thanks again
