Default Loud knocking noise in engine!

Hi guys, its about time for me to sell my blazer so this guys was test driving it, he took it out on the highway and started coming back, about 2 miles after he turned around it just quit on him and he couldnt get it started again. I went out there and couldnt jumpstart it so I replaced the alternator (the battery had died on me a couple days ago). After I replaced it we started it and there was a really loud knocking noise coming from the engine somewhere. It was on the side of the highway so we had to drive it home and we couldnt get it past 30mph. Has this happened to anyone before, I am not too smart on engines and stuff so I dont really know what the problem would be. My dad is good with cars but he wont be home for a week. He said i'll probably have to junk it. If you might know what the problem is or how serious it is please tell me. Thanks!

Sounds like you spun a bearing and you have rod knocking in the engine, yes its a serious issue.
Dont know how much you were asking for your Jimmy but its going to be alot cheaper asking price if you still decide to sell.If you dont sell, parting out or replacing the engine might be a couple of options.Scrap price for the whole thing might bring you about $350.You can make more $ parting it out.
