Default Manually engage front axle?

my vacuum actuator ripped on my 2003 Blazer, bought a new one, worked fine, now its ripped again, the cable doesnt seem like its too stiff, i dont know if im doing something wrong or what, but im sick of it!! question is: Can i run the cable that goes to the vacuum actuator to somewhere i can reach it in the truck? and just click the button and pull the cable? anyone tried this, will it work? thanks ahead of time guys,

Unhappy diamond cable fix

just found this thread . wish it had been day before yesterday .just spent $160 for repair to vacuum lines and freeing up cable to get 4x4 to shift . have a warm garage and plenty of tools . the idea of a computer interface between me and a physical action is bull.

the older s10s like a 85 actually had the actuator on the fenderwell under the hood. after replacing the switch every year i would just manually pull the wire and put a pair of vise grips on it
