Manually shift 4x4
Hey guys, I just bought another blazer and the 4x4 linkage is disconnected. Im going to pick it up tomorrow but its stuck in 4 low. Can anyone tell me what position the linkage on the transfer case should be in for 2 hi. Its 1996 4.3 5 speed.
Thanks

I assume that it is a manual 4x4 shifter.
Should on an NV transfer case just be the very opposite position of where you are.
It may involve lift the truck and have somebody turn a lifted wheel to get out of 4LO to 4HI. The 4HI to 2HI shift should work regardless but a bit of turning may help as well. The turning is rather short. The axle on the transfer case only turns about 60 degrees so less than a quarter of a turn.
The manual shifter has some intermediate ball lock points that can be felt.
Needs a bit of a lever and try to avoid mauling the axle it will be hard to fix the linkage back. Eventually if part of the linking is still attached you can use that lever arm.
Make it safe when lifting the truck and working underneath!
