Default Need engine help!!! Won't Start...

First off hi guys I'm new to the forum my name's Donny and I live in Utah and I desperately need some help...lol.

I recently bought a 91 S-10 Blazer 4dr 4x4 4.3L TBI 5spd manual from my in-laws. I has been sitting for about 2 years. It's in pretty good shape. My father-in-law said it ran great last time he was driving it before it sat. So I went and tried to start it and it wouldn't start. So I did all the basic tune-up stuff...Distributor cap and rotor, plugs and wires, oil change, fuel filter (and put about 4 gal of good fuel in...there was maybe a 1/4 tank in it of old gas), fuel pump relay, air filter. Still won't start. It will start up with starter fluid but quickly die when it burns that up, if I keep spraying it will stay running. So I figured it wasn't getting gas. Checked flow up to the TBI and the gas is getting there...when you turn the key on it shoots some gas out of the feed line so I'm assuming the pump is running and the fuel filter isn't clogged (changed the filter anyway) Injectors aren't spraying at all though. When cranking they looked like they may have been slightly dripping fuel but not nearly enough to start it. I'm assuming that since it will keep running on starter fluid that it's getting spark...I don't know I'm at a loss here...google'd everything I could think of and came up with nothing...that's actually how I found this site...anybody have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

A TBI motor needs around 10psi of fuel pressure. You could have fuel to the throttle body, but unless it is up to pressure, the injectors won't work properly. To test fuel pressure, you need to install an adapter on the feed line that will allow you to connect a fuel pressure gauge.

Ok I'll have to check that tomorrow...Autozone sells the setup to check it...hopefully they can do it as a tool rental otherwise it's $50...

Awesome...got it running today, ended up being the 2" hose that connects the fuel pump to the rest of the assembly. It was squishy and felt sticky like tar and had a huge hole in it. Changed that out and it fired right up.

Glad you got it running, welcome to the Blazer forum. You should check your steering shaft condition to see how the flex joints are holding up. I just replaced my steering shaft with a shaft from a Jeep Cherokee. See the builds section for my write up.
