Yesterday I acquired a 1980 model K5. It has been sitting in someones front yard for about 9 months since the last time someone started it. I got it running but it wont idle and it backfires a lot.

I know it recently had an engine rebuild but that's the extent of my knowledge of its past. It also has a leak in the gas tank which I assume means I need to buy a new one (unless there is a cheaper fix).

What are some of the basic things I need to do to get it in drive-able conditions?
