No 2-3 shift

No 2-3 shift
I just replaced the motor in my son's 98 Blazer 4x4.
Finally got all the motor issues resolved but the transmission won't shift from second to 3rd.
I did not do anything with the transmission other than put a jack on it during the swap because I didn't want any problems in this area after the swap. Surprise !!!
I've tried shifting from a standstill from first to second to third, and first and second shift fine and it almost feels like it wants to drop into 3rd but won't.
I'm showing no codes at all so I'm a little baffled. I did loosen the 2 cross member bolts and put a piece of plywood on the pan to support transmission when pulling the motor. It was moved up and down a bit but no more than the length of the mount bolts.
Guy at work says the shift linkage could be out of adjustment ?
Seems like I should have a code if something this serious is happening so I'm confused. Thinking something mechanical like an adjustment of some sort.
As always any advise would be greatly appreciated !
