Default No 3rd gear

I have a 98 chevy 4x4 4.3 engine automatic. Its been running owrfectly fine and then in saturday i was driving and out of no where shifting into 3rd gear the rpms went up to 4 and it wouldnt go into 3rd gear. Thwme trans hasnt been slipping or anything. Checked the fluid and it was low but still some in there. I dont have the 2500 for a repair right now. Does anyone know what else it could be??? I am absolutely in love with my blazer and i dont wanna get rid of it. Any help would be appreciated.

With you on that call👍 Low fluid is the #1 cause of this type of problem. It takes minutes for the damage to be done to the frictions from low fluid and you may not notice anything right away but once the frictions glaze you are on borrowed time. Also up there for this type of damage doesn't even come from the transmission. A bad or dirty MAF sensor will cause low pressure to be commanded to transmission and burnt 3-4 clutches.
