Default No Heat and overheating problem

99 Blazer, 4.3L vortec. coolant is Dexcool, new water pump installed about 60000K ago and had coolant flush then.
I have searched the threads on this but haven't found anyting that fits my situation.
Here it is, my heater stopped blowing hot air on the way to work this morning -10deg Cel.
not good, then the temp gauge climbed to almost 125deg Cel. (sorry canada eh!)
Got it home, looked on these forums, took some suggestions and they were. Took the top heater core hose off the WP and no fluid came out and no build up or clogging. Blew in end of line and got transfer of air through to the rad I assume no clog in heater core. OK, took the T-stat out and reinstalled the housing, started it up and temp gauge climbed to over 100and still no fluid through the rad, no heat in any hose's took the top hoses off the pump, no fluid.
SO, must mean the water pump is not working, took off serpintine belt and rad shroud, the water pump spins freely, it wasn't previously leaking either, and with the top heater hose off when i spin the fan, it sounds like the impeller is turning in there, I can here fluid but nothing is getting pumped out. Now I'm not sure the pump is gone, I haven't unhooked the bottom hose yet is the only thing.
So does the water pump just go like that and not make any noise etc. I there a way to check it on the vehicle before I spend the time taking it off?am I on the right track, should I just change the pump??
If so how do I drain the fluid from the rad? what is up with that drain thing on the bottom passengers side, can you put a hose on that? I understand it turns with a 1/4" socket or something?

Thanks in advance for the help guys.

Default RE: No Heat and overheating problem

Never mind, found coolant in the oil. Intake or head gaskets. Either one
it's going to the shop for the fix.
