Default No Park On 1996 S10 Blazer

Hello All:
New around here but hoped you could help me with a question. Yesterday when driving my 1996 S10 Blazer 4WD home from work I stopped to get gas and noticed that it still wanted to move when I put it into Park. When I got home I pulled into my sloped driveway, put it in Park and when I let off the brake it started to roll back down the driveway. I started it again ( had to put it in Neutral) and put the Blazer into Park. Noticed that the P indicator was not lit as it does in the other gears, it didn't seem to "lock in" when I put it in Park and again, the Blazer just rolled when not braking. What it boils down to is that I've lost Park on my Blazer. Any ideas? Thanks!!

mine did this a few days before my shifter cable broke. check the cable out, its on the driver's side of the transmission. if there is any fraying in the outer plastic sheath, replace it. the inner cable is what pulls it out of park, but the outer plastic sheath is what put it back into park. i have had a temporary fix of fuel line and hose clamps for over a year, and have only had to adjust it twice. i have a new cable, just havent installed it yet. the only place to get one is a dealership and it runs about $85
