Default No Reverse

I put new front brakes in my 2000 Blazer. Backed it out of the garage and stopped. I put in reverse to move it further from the garage and heard a loud pop. Reverse stopped working and there is a whining noise. It moves forward fine. I have not road tested forward. The tranny fluid is full and no evidence of leakage. I read of someone else with similar problem and it was suggested it was the solenoid that activates the transfer case. Any suggestions? Thanks - New Member.
