Noobs Ahoy
Hey Guys
I have just recently joined the forum and I havetwo questionsfor the masses. My new ride is an 01 Blazer LS, 4.3 with a 5 spd and while this is the first truck I have owned that has a stick shift I am wondering if they always make this much noise when you shift gears. I am proficient in driving a stick but I guess I am unfamiliar with the various sounds of this particular type of vehicle.
The truck itself has 82K miles and was well maintained so I am doubtful that I am looking at a mechnical failure, but then again I am no expert. When shifting from first into second you can hear an audible click as you push the clutch in. The sound only occurs from first to second and once in awhile going into third. I don't notice it at all going into any higher gears. I have been informed that this is a common occurence with this type of truck due to the high torque output of the engine. I am starting to think that I am getting paranoid.
My second question is about shutting down the engine at a dead stop. When you leave the truck in neutral and kill it, you sometimes will hear what sounds like two taps. It doesn't occur if I hold the clutch in and shift into first before stoppage. I am thinking its the act of disengaging the engine from the tranny that stops the noise, but I have no idea.
I appreciate the time and effort of the forum as you have provided me with many answers so far. To clarify, I have driven sticks before, but have always owned automatic vehicles so I am trying to familarize myself withmanual trannyvehicles.Thank you for your time guys.

One more question for you guys,
Any tips on manual trannies as far as service? Tranny flush, any external lubrication, etc...
Thanks guys
