Default RE: Oil Brand & Weight vs. Seals

The aluminum oil pan came into use in 98 and does not require reinforcements. The torque value for the pan bolts for an aluminum pan is 18 ftlbs. The aluminum oil pan has a captured o-ring style gasket. The only recommended place to use gasket sealer is at the corners where the front and rear journals run into the block.

I think Ill stick to my 5W30 year round and roll the dice over the years. Owners Manual says do not use a 10W40 or thicker oil. But just out of curiosity, is anyone using anything thicker than 10W30?

i'm using 5w30 and i think i need to go to 10w30 as it's hard to start it if it's been sitting because the piston rings are wotn out andit burns oil pretty bad when i start it up and then calms down a bit once the seals heat up and expand. also my oil pressure seems to be very low until it warms up, more often than not telling me i have no (zero, none at all ) oil pressure. and i need o switch all fluids over to amsoil
