Oil Leak from a strange place
Automotive Genius Here -
In monkeying around with the truck tonight, I noticed that the engine is soaked in oil, and there is a small puddle under the truck. Not very big, maybe the size of a saucer.
Looking around, I believe I found the source... The air intake assembly from the filter to the really cool flapper thingy has a stiff tube that is L shaped and runs to the left and down to a not so cool large block of steel. Where it connects to that not so cool large block of steel, appears to be a boot or a seal, and the stiff L shaped tube wobbles around a bit and can slide up and down a bit at this junction. There appears to be oil coming from around this loose junction.
I am just wondering if anyone with automotive knowledge would have any idea or experience as to why this is happening. I did notice that the oil level was down a bit, not sure exactly how many quarts, but it was down enough to get me to buy some to top it off. Any idea as to what I have on my hands here?
