oil pump... what else ?
replaced distributor.. went for test drive..maybe 1/4 mile . had oil pressure when i left. about 19 lbs at idle . half way thru test drive check gauges light ...no oil pressure.oh s%^t. got it home . to dark to mess with it. i am thinkin oil pump, oil pump shaft . . . not sure what else to check for . motor was running good . if i do pull oilpump what else should i repair or replace while in there? thx in advance
so heres my plan of attack on this . start with pulling distributor, put new oil pressure sending unit and reseating distributor. if thats not it then i guess i am doing a oil pump and shaft .
well the problem was operator error. i thought i had ditributor tightned down all the way. nope went to pull distributer and it dropped about a 1/4 ". and i noticed that i had about same left to tighten on distrbutor clamp. tightened up and ta-da oil pressure . the mechanics head was beaten against the wall several times (lol). thx to all that contributed . and hopefully this will remind others to double check what your doing and save yourself some headaches.
