Let me first start off by saying i realise this is a blazer forums But nobody else seems to know the anwser and i figure u would turn to you gueys for help

My Dads truck is a 2002 Suburban 5.3L v8 when u floor it to get up to speed it takes a minute to really get going we have heard this truck may have something called Torque or Abuse management? do u know how i could find out or what years they put this feature on?

I was also told disabling it can cause your tranny and driveline to fry???

google a website called chevytruckworld. they have all the info you need on the fullsize truvks.

And to answer your questions.
Torque management, and yes you can fry your tranny. However you can also diable the torque management and make the tranny survive.

Without writing a novel, my best advice to you is to seek the help of your local GM dealer or tranny shop. The tranny and engine work as one unit thanks to the puter, and torque management. If you got engine troubles you will have performance issues with your tranny. They work together as a team on the modern trucks, post '93 is a modern truck. Pre '93 and the tranny is not computer controlled.
