i had to jump it to get it into the garage today(my factory cd changer and it's dumb security system seem to drain it sometimes. i could rant on forever about that among other ridiculous problems with this car). After I got it started it seems to be running really rough now. I really hope I didn't do any major damage. Gonna have it looked at tomorrow. Thanks again for the advice.

Over heating an engine can cause a lot of problems. The worst of which would be a head gasket failur. If your head gasket has failed, you should not run the motor. By running your engine with a failed head gasket, you could risk pushing coolant into the oil, severely shortening the life of the bearings in the bottom end of the motor.
