P0442 code

P0442 code
My 2001 Blazer Service Engine light came on. I replaced the fuel cap and had the P0442 code cleared and 2 days later it came back on. One thing I think might be related is that for a few weeks prior to the light coming on, I noticed the car is reluctant to start when cold. It always does start but it takes several seconds before I can release the ignition key and it will keep running. Other than that, it runs great, but the light bugs me and I want to fix the problem. I found the vapor canister and checked the lines going to it and they seek OK, although I was unable to figure out how to disconnect the lines so I haven't had a good look at the canister. Anybody out there have a recommendation for my next move?
Thanks

Of course, clearing the code does not solve anything. Have you gone through the steps in P0442 Explained?

2001 Blazer EVAP system
Appreciate the response, and while I'm not much of a mechanic, I am bright enough to know that clearing the code doesn't fix it. I had them clear the code so that I could see if putting a new gas cap in, fixed the problem. It didn't as it was back in less than two days. Probably took the car out for 2-3 short rides in that time.
Anyway, I've had a chance to dig a little deeper today. I got the vapor canister out and it looks fine. No cracks or anything. I've also inspected the lines and they also seem fine. SO, I got up to the vent solenoid, located above the spare tire and it is normally open. I can blow air through it when it is disconnected completely, or hooked up to the car, with the car running. I'm not sure, but I'm thinking this should be normally closed. If so, perhaps I've found my leak??

Did that resolve your issue?? I have the P0442 code.

Vent Solenoid
Turns out the vent solenoid is supposed to be normally open so it did not turn out to be the problem. I still have the issue with my car.
