points to HEI upgrade
A couple days ago I posted that I was having trouble getting my k5 to run after doing a dist. rebuild. The 'ol 74 has points ignition and I'm looking to upgrade to HEI. I have never done such an upgrade and am curious as to what I will need to do so. I know that I'll need a new dist, ignition coil, and a box, but what else am I missing? Any help is much aprreciated.
Thanks.
Thanks.

RE: points to HEI upgrade
I have everything necessary to do this swap on my 74 K5.
You only need a complete HEI distributor. No box and the coil is mounted on top of the distributor cap.
You then need +12V switched voltage to the distributor. It is literally a one wire hook up. You cannot just use the voltage wire to the old coil though. That wire starts off with +12V for initial starting, but drops down to like +6V or somewhere around there once the engine is running to save the points. So you will need to run a wire to a switched voltage source.
