Default put 96 4.3 vortec in 95 blazer

can i do a direct swap with these engines, or will i have to change a bunch of stuff?

i got a 95 blazer that is pouring water into the oil and through the exhaust as soon as poured into the radiator, has 200,000+ miles .... instead of fixing i just want to swap engines..... will a 96 4.3 vortec work in it

'95 is a tricky year. GM changed the intake manifold to head bolt angles, you have to make sure that the intake will swap, or at least the fuel injection system will swap. You want to retain your current fuel injection system. Plus pull all your current engine sensors and swap them too. Then as far as the computer is concerned its the same engine.

What makes you think its an internal engine problem? Could be a simple gasket replacement.

never said internal engine problem, but it has over 200,000 miles on it and the 96 has 90,000 miles

is there a engine code somewhere stamped to let me know if it is a 95 or 96....the guy believes it is a 96 but said it could possible be a 95.....engine is sitting in his garage

Best way to tell is the 95 with the obdii engine has the intake on the front of the manifold. From what I can see at the pick a part lot the 96 has the newer style with the intake on the top of the manifold. Also the 95 has an aluminum manifold plenum. The 96 has a plastic type of plenum. If the plenum is off, the spider injector sits transverse on the manifold in the 95 and in the 96 the spider injector mounts length wise on a bracket.

Don't forget to check your wiring harness buddy...make sure everything's gonna wire-up correctly before you attempt this swap. Especially to your throttle body and emission stuff!

Thats why I recommended swapping hte intake and sensors. No wiring issues. No puter adjustments.
