Default Question about water pump - need someone to compare with their truck

Hey guys.

I'm pretty sure my water pump needs replacement (pretty much dumping all my coolant on the ground after I park). That said, I just got under it to take a look and I noticed that there is a hole and I don't know what it's for or if it is supposed to be there. I took some pictures. It's right above the tranny cooler lines. I just need someone to go outside and look if their truck has the same deal, or if something is supposed to be there and isn't.

Beyond that I'll probably go ahead and replace the water pump, sounds quite easy on these trucks.

is there anyway that you could perhaps circle the hole that you are talking about. i dont really see what you are talking about.
the water pump is pretty easy to change in these trucks. and since you are going to be there, you might as well take your garden hose and use it to push out all the dirt and junk that has come through the front of your radiator from the grille. you know what i mean?

can you get a farther out pic? Almost looks like a hole for one of the bolts for the starter lol. Cant figure out the angle. Is that the pitman arm to the right?

Where that hole is there is supposed to be a bracket that holds your transmission lines

Thanks 4x4GS10B. Exactly what I was looking for. Not necessary as only a couple inches beyond that where you can't see, I compression fitted flexible tranny cooler lines on (mine had rubbed through each other.

I actually already replaced the water pump shortly after writing this - still wanted to follow up on it though. Thus far my coolant leak does appear to be better.
