OK first, I've searched for about 30mins and havent seen my question resolved already, So here i am.
The body on my 1994 is SHOT, an by shot i mean my 2 front doors are opening like a clamshell from the bottom. Got rear ended so hard the drivers side rear quarter is non existent, and my frame is tweaked.
Found a 2 door model which has a blown tbi, and pretty much no interior. Would i need to make any modifications to drop the cpi in? Would i need to swap the ECU? If i do need to swap the ECU the 2 door doesn't have ABS will that mess any thing up?
Oh and the method behind my madness, the original owner put a plow on it, and paid $1.5k on an after market manual transfer case, originally wanted $2000 he was WASTED so i got the whole thing for $175

Uhhh NO?
cpi and tbi is totally different.
cpi=has a injector for EACH cylinder.
Tbi=2 big injectors for the whole engine.
to the OP the ecu, wiring harness, transmission etc will need to be changed depending if it has a 700r4 or 4l60. Since you have tbi,im 99% sure you have a 700r4. You CAN use it with the cpi,if you use the tv cable with it. Might pop a engine code or 2,but it should run right.

how can i tell if its got the 4l60? Also whats a tv cable? Hopefully its got the 4l60 because the one in mine was just rebuilt, but the moron didnt change out the torque converter an its getting stuck in OD

Easy way of telling is,if you get under the driver side, and look at the transmission wiring. You will see a wire plugged into it. a 4l60 will have a round plug,700r4 will have a square plug.
With his being tbi,im sure its a 700r4. Most tbi had it.
A tv cable is what controls the fluid pressure, shifts etc in a 700r4. If you look at a 700r4 on the passenger side, there is a cable that runs from it,to the throttle bracket at the engine. As you accelerate it pulls the cable, which opens a little piston in the trans, which increases line pressure etc for the internals to operate correctly.
good article on the tv cable. which is IMPORTANT on a 700's life.
Art Carr's 700r4 tv cable adjustment guide from CPTtransmission.com
The 4l60 is a electric version of the 700r4. which is controlled by the ecm. Only reason the 700 has a electric wire running to it is for the Overdrive solenoid. Nothing else is controlled in the 700r4 since its based on fluid pressure.
As for the issue with your od problem,I doubt its the converter. You either have constant power to the solenoid or the tv cable is adjusted wrong. Maybe the governor. (governor controls the shift points). Did you have larger tires?

This is going to be more trouble than it's worth in my opinion.
The cpi engine has one (1) electronic injector that feeds six poppets.

@ chris hooking up the tv cable doesn't sound too complicated.

Setting the tv cable is going to be a pain and may need a custom bracket, and longer tv cable for it to work on the cpi...
Honestly its not worth the conversion. Id just get a 4l60 and hook it up and be done with it. Tv cable has to be perfect for everything to work and not burn out.
