Default Reading past engine codes

'97 Blazer 4x4 LT. Have had some recent problems with this thing, on and off. Codes have shown up {Autozone reader} and then have gone away. Transmission has acted up then problems have gone away. The question I have is that is it possible that this Blazer stores in it's memory some how,all the past codes, in more detail, through a more safisticated code reader, like say at a dealer where they can pin point the problem more accurate than a Autozone reader? Thanks.

Default RE: Reading past engine codes

Definitely. Most of the cheaper aftermarket scan tools can only read and clear present codes and cannot read or clear the code history. This is typically reserved for the higher feature (read high dollar) scan tools.
