Default RearTransmission output/driveshaft seal

My '97's output shaft/driveshaft seal is leaking. I purchased a new one from Autozone but the one I pruchased is too small. The original one is about 3" OD (flange) and has a rubber boot. I have been looking on line and have not found a match. Any ideas??

The one from Autozone is Timken p/n 9613-S. Unfortuately I am not in a position to pull the old seal and go search around for a new one, I need to R&R the same day.

Thanks in advance for any help

Default opps..

4.3 liter 4wd Auto.

I went to VIP auto and the counter guy says the p/n of the Timken seal that I have when I told him what vehicle it was for...Maybe I take the original one off and the smaller one fits in deaper on the transmission tailshaft housing?

Going to try to attach a picture.

Thanks
Royce

That seal will likely work. It will fit into the back of the transfer case, but will not have the dirt/dust boot onto it like the original.

The AC Delco #15661460 will be a direct replacement to what you have currently:

Also, the Timken # 4333N (also available from Autozone) will be a direct replacement as well:

Smile Perfect

SwartlkkThanks

I will go for either the GM or the Timken seal, too bad these autopart stores do not have this kind of information or if they do, know how to look it up..After this its on to replace the remote oil filter lines (leaking of course..)

Thanks again
Royce
