Default Replacing 2000 Blazer 4wd 4L60E tranny

Please forgive my inexperience with this. The last two times the transmission melted down I just stroked a check to the repair guy and went on with my life. At this point, the price to pay somebody else to repair it would be about equal to the value of the vehicle if it were running.

I bought a rebuilt transmission w/ 2 year warranty for $700 delivered to my garage door. Let the games begin!

Removed rear driveshaft. Removed front driveshaft connection from transfer case to fwd axle. Seems to be a constant velocity joint in the transfer case so I left that alone.

How do I get the bugger out? Do I disconnect the transfer case or can I remove both at the same time. Do I need to remove the cross member that supports the back of the transmission. Do I need a converter holding strap tool No. J-21366 to remove and install the transmission?

Thank you for your assistance.

As far as the actual removal, I know you have to remove the starter and access the torque converter to flywheel bolts through there, there are three of them according to the picture the trans shop took of mine when it was removed. Plus the bolts that hold the motor to the engine, obviously.

I do not see why you couldn't remove the trans and tcase as a unit except possible weight or balance issues with your jack. I'm sorry I cannot help with the cross member, I don't know what it looks like. I'm assuming unless it's riveted in, that you have to, though.

Here's the picture of the torque converter my trans guy sent me, perhaps it'll help you.
