ooo dang beat me to it, I was about to post the same thing. The job seems easy enough...the guys at Carquest told me the only real problem is the bolt is like 2 in square. Havn't had a chance to check anything out though

Well i gona my fnished.
First i removed the fan shroud.
Next removed 4 bolts hodling the fan clutch to the water pump.
Next protect ur rad with something...give the fan clutch a tap with a hammer.
then lift it up take off the fan with the 4 bolts....
toruqe to spec and replace it.
It took me about 2 hours but i also had some problems with dropping tools and such. Good Luck

Doesn't sound too hard. Thanks for the info!

Also, I've done repairs and fixed some stuff on my blazer, but i'm still no mechanic , anyway, how do I know how much torque take the bolts to, where do I find these specs, and how do I know how much torque i'm throwing on the bolts? I've always just tightened till it stopped, but then again I havn't had any problems yet..lol

well the torque specs i got came in the box with the clutch although i found it hard to do so because you cant really get much in their...i just snugged mine up
and so far it seems to have done the trick...i pray to god it does not let loose if it does i can say good bye to my rad and grill.

haha that could be potentially very bad. you'll be fine, i've never had a part fly off as of yet....I just keep seeing people asking on these forums about what the torque specs are for various parts...hadn't even heard of that till the forum...ohhhh well

The 4 bolts on the '91 that Blazer_boy has hold the fan clutch on, but on the '96+ engines (and maybe the CPI engines as well, but I can't remember their setup exactly), the fan clutch mounts to a threaded stud on the water pump shaft itself while the pulley gets bolted to the flange on the water pump shaft. Removing the bolts will not remove the clutch.

For that, you have to have a large adjustable wrench, and a pry bar. You will have to find one of the bolt heads that will allow you to break loose the clutch, then spin the clutch off of the water pump.
