Roller lifter swap out question?
#1
Ok so here it goes. On my 97 blazer i had a lifter clattering and a intake manifold leak. So killing 2 birds with 1 stone i tackled this project last weekend. Got me 12 new roller lifters, A gasket set , And some anti freeze and dug in.
Now i got it all back together and all is fine now. It took the better part of a day to get it all done. However here comes the question. The plastic retainers that hold the roller lifters straight. I cannot remember if i tightened them at all. I know i started the 2 bolts on each and ran them down with a 1/4 inch ratchet. However i was gonna finish them off with a 3/8 ratchet to get them all the way tight. I cannot remember if i did this or not.
Its driving me crazy i dunno if i did it or not. And now the struggle of do i pull the intake again and check or trust in my mechanical skills and hope i tightened them? I sometimes second guess myself for no reason but cant help it. I know this could ruin the cam if it comes loose and turns. Just wondering if anyone has ever seen this happen. I have goggled and cannot find mush or anything about it really. So wanted to ask y'all here for your experiences.
Thanks in advance for the input.
Oh and by the way after the intake was replace it had a #2 cylinder misfire. With some digging i found i bent a pin on the injector plug . Wanted to give others a heads up as ill bet im not the first to do that.
