Im experienced in motors, but not this motor.

Will be doing piston rings in the next few days and need some advice. I purchased piston rings from checker auto, and an wondering if they will come gapped properly, or if file fitting will be necessary.

Also, does anyone know the proper piston ring gap for that motor so i can check once i get into it?

what year motor? vortec or not?

 

its a 96, and yes it is a vortec.
