Default Service AWD Light On

I have a 98 Oldsmobile Bravada Smart trek. Took it in a couple of rough spots, now the light is on, and the Smart trek system does not engage. Could this be a problem with a transfer case motor? any clues would be helpful, going to school in a couple of months and i want my ride to be pristine

Thank you!

God Bless

You need to get TCCM scanned by a capable scan tool. Anything else would be a wild guess.

So today, I when I drove it the light never came on. Can I use that scan tool, even if the light is not on?

There should be stored codes.

Have you serviced your transfer case? Remember to use GM Autotrak 2 fluid ONLY. Anything else and you could damage the clutches inside the transfer case.

No I have not serviced it. I shall though, is this fluid something I have to get direct from the dealer?
