1991 S10 Tahoe Blazer 4.3L

Just traded for this vehicle about a month ago and really like driving it. Just now getting around to fine tuning. Upon accelerating from a dead stop there is a very slight hesitation. Unless driving one does not even hardly notice unless you are looking for it.

Plugs look new, rotor button& distributor cap look new. Cleaned out varnish from throttle body with carb cleaner. No Service Engine Soon codes. Someone has removed the catylatic converter and installed a straight pipe., Could this cause this problem? If I knew for sure I would install one.

Gas milage is around 18MPG. I would like to get 20...thats why I am finetuning. This truck runs great in all aspects with the exception of the slight hesitation when acellerating from 0MPH up to around 10 MPH.

Anyone have any ideals? Any would be greatly appreciated!

I would say try running some fuel system cleaner through with some premium gas to see if that helps out!!

 

I had run a can of SeaFoam and Octane Booster with HiTest Gas when I first got the vehicle......maybe I should try again.

Does anyone have any recomendations for fuel system cleaners??

 

As far as fuel system cleaners I would suggest lucas!! I use lucas in everything and never have any problems with there products and I will say they work lovely!!!

 

GM Fuel System Treatment PLUS (don't forget the PLUS) has a filmer agent that is specifically formulated to protect the sending unit from the sulfur found in most fuels. Chevron w/ Techron is another very good fuel system treatment which is similar to the pre-PLUS GM Fuel System Treatment.

 

Techron makes 3 different fuel system cleaners. I believe Kyle is referring to the 'Techron Concentrate Plus', which is what I use periodically in my truck. I think it's good stuff, also.

 

I think you mean Chevron, rriddle! LOL Yeah, I meant the Techron Concentrate Plus which is the only Techron branded product available per Chevron's webpage... They also have a Pro-Gard product as well that utilizes Techron technology.

The Plus version states the same things that make the GM Fuel System Treatment PLUS product better than most. I suspect they are one in the same inside...

I actually hadn't noticed that the Chevron stuff had the Plus on it until I looked at their website. I would think a product that was released late in '05 would have cleared the shelves of the previous version by now. Chevron hasn't produced the non-plus version since '06 from the news briefs I was able to find, but the non-plus version is still on the shelves in my local Napa... LOL

 

Thanks Guys! I have been a fan of Lucus Oil Products for a long time and am using it right now in the Blazer along with some Marvel Mystery oil. Some 93 Octane gas has improved the hesitation somewhat but it's still barely there.

18MPG still.......I really want 20 MPG.......anyone have any suggestions on that or is 18 about right for this vehicle?

Just crossed my mind.Could replacing the fuel injectors be of any benefit?? Just a thought...if anyone wishes to comment ...please do!
