My 98 4.3 has less than 20k mls and smokes after cold starts. My cat needs replacing. Could this be the reason for the smoking?

What is the color of the smoke? What does it smell like? How long does it take for the smoke to go away?

Seems to be light grey and smells like carbon and it only lasts until operating temps

WOW, you have a 98 Blazer with 20,000 miles on it??? That is like a new motor not really even broken in yet If it smells like "rotten eggs", I would definately say you need a new cat converter... I am shocked that it would need replacing with that low of miles though...

Yeah Go chevy, I had a new engine installed a year 1/2 ago after the original engine had obvious issues going on with it. I knew what to expect so I went with it. Anyway, my mechanic did recommend that I replace the cat. Thanks for the confirmation.
