Default Speratic RPM issues

Rpms rise like they should when starting but doesnt always like to drop back down like they should when idling. Sometimes when dropping transmission into reverse or drive the blazer "drives itself" by keeping the rpms high enough to shift through a few gears while it gains speed on its own. When rolling I can shift into neutral and sometimes it will hold the high point of the rpms when I hit the gas and wont come back down. Ive changed all the sensors on the throttle body and the kickdown and throttle cable are good. Any Ideas?

Maybe something in the cruise control system is causing the problem? Disconnect that cable, and see if the problem goes away.

How did you figure out the throttle cable was good? I've had to replace them on other cars when they got to where they would hang up.

Also, make sure there is nothing physically in the way of the throttle linkage. Thought I was going to have to change the throttle cable on my chevelle once; turned out the air cleaner wing nut had come off, and the filter housing had tipped over into the linkage. I'm sure you've already looked, but it can't hurt to mention.

Cables are brand new. The throttle linkage is all clear and working properly. I've disconnected the cruise control and it didn't help.
