Default Stalling problem

Hello,

At times, my 91 blazer keeps stalling on me at a stop light or even in the middle of a turn. I recently got a tune up from Pep boys but it is still stalling. What else can I check? Also, at start up , there is a puff of blue smoke that comes out the extaust. What causes that?

Thanks

blue is usually oil, mabe you have little or no oil, which you might really want to check lol, or an oil leak

blue smoke out the tailpipe only at start up is typically a sign of worn valve guides. No big deal unless it gets worse. I had a 4.3 that started the blue smoke at start up when it had 60,000 miles on it. I didn't do anything about it and totalled the truck out at 286,000 miles. Engine still ran strong as an ox.

As for the dieing at low speeds, look for a vacuum leak.

Hi Folks;
This is my first post on the forum so it will be short. 1994 S-blazer,92000 miles (verified) mint condition , no rust ,no ding's , PERFECT ! This is my third blazer and the least reliable vehicle ever made ! Low miles because it can't GO anywhere .Fuel problems are constant, 8.5 m.p.g.average, what gives with this ? Are they all like this? The other two I had were a 1985 2.8 gutless wonder and a 1991 TBI that was a pretty good truck. But all I read about this CPI is a nightmare. I will say that when it runs IT RUNS !!!! I have to much $$$ in it to get rid of it now so any help in general is appreciated. By the way Hanes manual is a joke . Thanks

my 94 had the 9 mpg problem too, start with a fuel pressure test see how fast the pressure drops off without engine running if your lucky its just a fuel pressure regulator like mine was easy fix if you search for it there's a nice walkthrough i just recently linked for someone else with pics and all. since i fixed that i jumped up to around 20mpg been holding there steady for over a year now (although it sat for the summer through the insane gas prices)

Nope they are not all like yours.
I am on my 4th, well actually I still have 2 of them. A '93 I swapped the engine after 196,000 miles. It now has over 210,000 miles and needs some new front brakes, runs like a champ. My Dd is a '00 with 167,000 miles on it. I bought it with 27,000 miles on it. I did rebuild the tranny, replace the intake gasket, and it still runs like a champ. I average around 18-20mpg.

Fuel pressure regulator is one option, check your O2 sensors too. Disconnect them and see if that makes any difference. If they are't working your truck will not go into closed loop mode and your gas mileage will suck, it'll run perfect, but your gas mileage will suck.

I did have a '87 with the 2putt8 engine and it run well also. The previous owner swapped the engine when it has 190,000 miles on it.

I think when its time to replace the engine in my '00 I'll drop in a V8.
