Default starter or fuel pump?

Sorry I haven't posted in quite some time, My work keeps me away from the computer
for weeks at a time. but, to the problem at hand, the '95 blazer I aquired was not running
and fuel pressure around 56 or 57 PSI. starting fluid dosen't help, it won't even fire off,
the starter dosen't seem to spin the engine very fast, and it will kick back like it's out a time
even though i checked and the timing is correct. don't want to replace alot of parts trying to
fix the problem. thanks for any helpful advice.

how did you check the timing if it won't run?

Sorry I don't have time to explain each step, how ever
the repair manual did show how to check timing gear marks
and distributor rotor placement, so unless the manual was
wrong, my timing should be ok.

check sensors, any loose or unplugged sensors could cuase a no start situation, but if your starter is not cranking with enough speed have you checked your battery voltage?

Take your battery and starter into a autoparts store and get them tested.

You can check timing by crnaking the enine over two full fevolutions by hnad.

thanks for the input, i'll be getting the starter checked hopefully this week.
how ever the locals here say if the fuelpump does not show 60 psi. with the key on
it won't run either. so far i don't have any money in this blazer, but don't want to waste money
guessing. my daughter, who i got it for, might not want to keep it do to gas prices.
so i don't want to put a couple hundred in it and not get it going, then lose money trying to
sell it,again thanks for the help.

sounds like your distro timing is off......I understand what you said about checking the book but i think your talking about mech timing and not distro timing....if starting fuild doen't change it then it's not a fueling issue....do you have spark at the plugs? have you checked your ign. coil? pick up coil? ign. modu? do you have a timing light?

to be honest, the distr. rotor looks 180 out. and yes i do have spark at the plugs, thats why i question
it not starting with starting fluid. it would be a good candidate for a V8 swap, but my accountant
advises otherwise. darn fuel prices! ha ha.

Hi. Probably have a bad cell in your battery. Other possibilities are fouled spark plugs, clogged fuel filter, bad fuel pressure regulator. To run, a car needs three things, spark, fuel and combustion. I would definitely look into the bad battery thing though. Take it to your local auto parts stor and have them test the battery.
