Starting Issue
I have a 1995 Chevy Blazer LS 4dr 4x4 with the L35 CPI that I've owned since late January. It's got 200k miles on the body and only 92k miles on the motor it's been replaced(from a '94 S10). I'm having some problems getting it started. It stopped running on me a couple weeks ago(not the 1st time this happened) so I had it towed to my local Exhaust Pros(they offer full mechanic's service). The mechanic there checked it and says it's got spark so it's not an ignition issue. This past Monday he sprayed brake cleaner down the throttle opening and it started and ran on its own and hasn't not started since. I did the same thing this past July but with starting fluid and it ran fine after that for 2 weeks then it stopped starting again. I thought it was the spider injection assembly but he told me that's not the issue. He told me It could be an electrical issue involving the signal from the pcm to the fuel injector. A friend of mine who's a diesel mechanic agrees. He also told me that continuing to use brake cleaner to get it running again will not hurt it unlike starting fluid which contains ether and ether can wreak havoc on the engine. And when it does run the sometimes the check engine light will come on and will occasionally flash but after shutting it down and then starting it back up again it will go out. Has anyone here had the same problem that I just described with your own 1992-1995 L35 CPI or at least know what the problem is? If so please reply! I'm at a loss.
