Default A suburban question

I know this isn't a Blazer question but my dad has a 1997 Chevrolet K1500 Suburban and it is acting up really bad. It won't accelerate at all, the RPMs won't go above 1800, the fuel pump is whining really bad, and obviously, the steering is absolutely atrocious. I am wanting to fix the truck for him but wanted to get a better idea of what else it might be other than the fuel pump. I don't want to take the fuel tank off and find out it isn't the pump. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If the fuel pump is whining bad that could very well be the entire problem. If you want to be absolutely sure, you should do a fuel pressure check.
