hey i have a 99 chevy blazer with 4button 4wd.... the service 4x4 light comes on and off randomly and it never engages 4wd which i new about....but tonight for fun i pushed the 4hi button and it locked and work...cool...so i put it back in 2wd and went to drive away and the truck wont move at all....the tranny goes into gear but the tcase seems like its stuck in neutral since im able to roll the truck around in drive...but the tcase all makes a clicking noise like its stuck part way between neutral and switching to 2wd. but only in R, N, & D not in park.

any idea on this? is it my tccm under pass kick panel? or the sensor on the front diff?

 

I'm thinking a t/c encoded motor. It's on the drivers side of the transfer case. Worst case, you can pop the encoder motor off and shift it manually to get it home.

 

if i unbolt it and manually shift it back to 2wd and bolt the motor back on will it stay their in 2wd and be fine till i can get a new one? its my dd and also have to get my son to and from school...with it be fine to drive?

 

also when im trying to get it to work or nove through positions the service 4x4 light comes on and all the lights on the tcase bottons go out and i have to shut the truck off and hold 2wd while restarting it to let the dash switch jump back to 2wd lighting up and if ya play with it somewhere it just go out again or shoves the service 4x4 light back on

 

I completely removed the encoder and driven for a couple days until my new one came in. Seemed fine.
