that 5.3 will out perform the 350. higher reving, quicker spooling, and better on the mileage. don't forget, your trying to shoehorn this V8 into a truck that was designed for a large 6, the power to weight ratio is gonna go up large!

ok assuming that the 350 and 5.3L are about the same power, regardless of which one is better. From what i have read it seems much easier to fit a 350 into a blazer, and they are also less expensive and easier to find parts. Is this correct?

anyone know how easy they are to fit??

Edit: decided if im going to go with a 350 why not just go all the way to a 383 stroker with it....no reason not too give me your opinions pllllleeeasseee

Ok i have made up my mind on the engine i want to use. Im going to use a 5.7L Vortec engine and a stroker kit with it to bring it to 6.3L. Also i will be using a 4L60E tranny with it. Does anyone see any problems with this swap?

I stayed with the 4.3 and had it bored .60 over, stock crank and cam. I still have good mileage and lots of power without having to modify everything. I did replace the timing chain, oil pump, lifters. I had the machine shop install the crankshaft and bearings along with the new pistons w/ rings and install the heads. Total was somewhere for about $900.00. Def worth it to me knowing it was done right.

yea s10 frames really are not made for that kind of horsepower. if you really want that kind i'd be looking for a k5 blazer or an old k10 truck. if it was my truck and i wanted to do an engine swap i'd be looking at a small block v8. or get your v6 bored out to a common overbore. cause like said above. your gonna have a nasty frame twist

The vortec 5.7L is essentially a 350 small block V8 with different heads on it....and i really dont have the money for a K5 or K10...is there anyway to avoid frame twist with that engine?

i'd go with an overbore common spec on the v6. look at the bright side while your getting new pistons, etc. your basically getting an overhaul
