Timing checked with autoenginuity, something wrong with my timing?

i just did head gaskets on my 96 4.3, and I was 1 tooth out and mine wouldnt even fire. Got a little back fire a couple times and that was it. You have to have distributor lined up perfectly because computer (on my model anyway) adjusts the timing electronicaly.
